Our Capital Campaign

Phase One: The Theatre

The OSC has met with NYC officials and major real estate developers to consider building our center on a Lower Manhattan pier.  Now we have begun a $25 million campaign, which will fund the creation of our 499-seat theatre structure.

Phase Two will include the building of the school, museum, gift shoppe, Elizabethan Tavern/restaurant and research center.

Why we deserve your donation:

- The world’s most celebrated Shakespearean actors have all said it: if you build it, we will come!

- We will provide cultural and educational benefits to the citizens and visitors of New York, offering affordable classical theatre to audiences, a free museum to visitors and an affordable drama school to nurture young actors.

- We will help rejuvenate Lower Manhattan by providing a destination for tourists and jobs for New Yorkers.

- The new Shakespeare Globe Theatre is London’s Number One tourist attraction after Buckingham Palace, is financially self-sufficient with 750,000 patrons a year, and has rejuvenated an entire section of London.

  1. -Our after-school and Arts-in-Education programs will benefit local

students and nurture a whole new generation in the liberal arts.

- In our first two years in New York, we have produced 20 Shakespeare plays, providing hundreds of free student and senior tickets, as well as hundreds of low cost $5 and $10 seats.

- Your contribution may be tax-deductible...
